The Democrats also nominated Greeley, hoping the combined support would defeat Grant.

Between late March and early April I finally had an opportunity to read this highly-anticipated and well-regarded biography. As a comprehensive, and certainly more-than-satisfactory, review of the life of Ulysses S. Grant this biography succeeds. And no bombshell revelations appear in this book.
